Welcome to the RRPictureArchives.NET contributor site of Craig Hobschaidt.
One of the most important things to remember about the railroad enthusiast is that he or she may not really know why trains are in the blood. After all, once you've seen a train you've seen them all, right? Oops, I think I punctuated that incorrectly-- After all, once you've seen a train you've seen them-- ALL RIGHT!!
Could it be the way trains twist and wind through the mountains? Could it be the way they reflect in a pond as they pass by on the other side? Could it be because of the thunderous roar of a coal train on its knees going up the hill? Could it be the soft horn blowing at a distant grade crossing on a warm summer's night? Could it be the sounds of a busy classification yard? Could it be the way a speedy intermodal races by in the snow? Could it be the single passenger train amid many freights that stands out like a shining beacon of days gone by? Could it be the silence of the steam locomotives on display? Or the groaning of an old timer still chugging away?
What ever the reason, don't let yourself figure out why you like trains so much. Once you do you'll lose the mystery and wonder. Yeah, let it remain a mystery to all those around you who wonder why you like trains so much!
